On the Spot Negotiation
So the principal wanted to know all about what we were doing: how much we charged, where we were singing, etc. He seemed surprised that we would "go to Peterborough for $45". He went away for a few minutes, then came back and said he only had $43. We allowed as how we could probably see our way to giving him a little discount.
Turns out he'd been calling his wife at home in Roxbury, to make sure she was going to be there for a while. At least an hour, he told us.
Now, we had been thinking that after our mad dash to Swanzey we were in the clear and had plenty of time to go out to Winchester, do the gigs there, and then head on over to Jaffrey for the next one that had a deadline looming. Which, we figured, gave us an opportunity to grab lunch. Foolish us. Off to Roxbury we went, grabbing Zone Bars from Mark's stash instead of lunch.
I must say, Mark supplied us quite well in the food department. He had all kinds of snacks and drinks, which we did make rather a dent in before the day was over. Thank you again, Mark.
